PowerSchool to Offer Credit Monitoring/Identity Protection Services

PowerSchool has announced it will offer credit monitoring and identity protection services to everyone whose data was downloaded in the December 2024 PowerSchool security breach. See the full story for details.

SGES Field Trip to Richdale Farms

Sugar Grove Elementary School students and staff are going to Richdale Farm in Wytheville, Virginia on Friday, October 25, 2024. Students will spend the morning learning and playing at the farm. They will eat a packed/bagged lunch at the provided picnic tables before returning to school. The cost of the trip is $15.00. We will be leaving the school around 9:00 am on the morning of our trip. This trip is for students and staff only. We should return to school by 2:30 pm. Please watch the weather and dress students accordingly on the day of the trip. Remember that farms are messy and your child might get a little dirty. Please send a water bottle with a resealable lid to have during our time at the farm.

October 29 - Let's Celebrate the 50th Day of School by dressing in 50s style!

SGES will celebrate the 50th day of school on October 29 by dressing up in 1950's 1950s-style attire. We are so excited to see all the students dressed up for 50's Day in rolled-up jeans, white T-shirts, leather jackets, poodle skirts, ponytails, or even saddle oxfords!

SGES will hold Parent Teacher Conferences on October 17, 2024.
Smyth County Schools will be closed on October 18, 2024, for fall break.

Fall Picture Day - October 10, 2024

It's that time again! Comb your hair, choose your outfit, and put on your best smile for fall school picture day on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Please be on time for school as the photographer will start early and we want everyone to have their picture taken for the yearbook.

Explorers After-School Program

This after-school program is available Monday-Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm for $30.00 per week at SGES. The program is provided through a collaboration with Smyth County and Smyth County Schools to provide a safe space and nurturing environment for children during after-school hours. The program also provides a snack, homework help, and recreational activities, and is staffed by Smyth County Schools employees. A representative will be available on Back to School night to meet with parents and answer any questions.

SCS Traffic Safety Program

Smyth County Schools will begin an automated school zone speed enforcement program to increase safety for students, parents, teachers and anyone else traveling through the school zones. Please see the attached release for additional information.
